El Ciricote botanical and tropical tree nursery and the botanical garden "El Hormigo" are projects dedicated to saving rain forest habitat for future generations. The purposes of these projects are to preserve species being lost to deforestation, development and demonstration of sustainable agriculture techniques and education of the local population regarding the consequences of deforestation and the techniques for preventing or reversing the destruction.
